Tse Tse... jetzt geht es im braven
Malediven-LAnd schon mit kriminellen Machenschaften los.

      Die Berichterstattung ist
echt putzig. Die Presse bekommt dortzulande jedes noch so kleine Detail in der Morgenzeitung
      präsentiert.

      Aber lest selbst:

MALE, Aug 6 (HNS) -- Early Tuesday morning,
traffic police found a car speeding on a street in Male. It had a taxi plate, and when police tried
to make it stop, it speeded up, and tried to escape.
However, the police gave chase, and
the four people inside the car abandoned it onto the pavement on the junction meeting Ameer
      Ahmed Magu and Sosun Magu.
"The four of them escaped from the police," Assistant
Commissioner of Police, Maj. Ibrahim Latheef told Haveeru.
      Although the incident occurred
around 4:00am Tuesday, by morning on Tuesday itself, police arrested a person they suspect
being the driver of the car.
"We are still searching for the other three who got away,"
      Latheef said.
The license plate had "3280" on it, and it was found to be registered as a
      taxi at Regal Taxi center.
Police did not reveal the name of the driver of the car, but
Haveeru has come to know that the car’s owner is Abdulla Mahir (nickname: "A. Mahir") of M.
      Castle house in Male.
Latheef said that tools that can be used to break into houses were
found in the abandoned car, and that police suspect the four were on a "burglary attempt."

"Two major burglaries occurred in Male on Monday night," Latheef said. However, he did
not give the details of these two burglaries.
The abandoned car was moved away by
      police.
A witness at the scene told Haveeru that police summoned a person to the scene
of the crime whose driver’s card was found in the car.
      However, that person told police
that he had stopped driving that taxi over a week ago, and that he had left his card in the car
because he forgot to take it back with him. The person then told the police: "This car is now
driven by the son of ‘A Mahir.’"
The car was registered as a taxi car with Regal Taxi center
      from September 2002.
Abdulla Rasheed from Regal Taxi center told Haveeru that this
particular car has not been in Regal Taxi center’s service for the past two months because it
did not go out on taxi trips during that period, thereby the car effectively ceasing being a taxi of
      that center.
"We do not have any relations with that car whatsoever," Rasheed said,
distancing his taxi center from the controversial car.
It has been noted that in recent days
there have been cases of thefts in Male.
Burglars are striking not only households but any
place which is vulnerable, and which has something valuable to offer, such as computers and
its accessories, and other electronic equipment such as television sets.
      It is important that
people lock up their houses properly if they go out, and also ask neighbors to look out for any
suspicious characters lurking near the house.
In countries like Singapore, there are ‘
neighborhood watch’ programs run by apartment complexes in collaboration with police in order
      to protect themselves from thieves.
It is also important that in Maldives we conduct a "
Know Your Neighbors" campaign so that any suspicious activity or character in your
neighborhood will immediately come to everybody’s attention and thereby lead to the protection
      of the neighborhood.
